26th Anniversary Banquet
Youth of the Year Celebration
March 2nd, 2018

The 26th Anniversary Banquet and 2018 Youth of the Year will be hosted at Sheraton Mesa Hotel at Wrigleyville West in Mesa, Arizona.  The event is set for Friday, March 2, 2018 and will honor and recognize outstanding high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who have emerged as the outstanding members of their individual branches.

If you have never attended our Youth of the Year Banquet, you are missing out on one of the most inspiring opportunities of your life. You’ll hear first-hand from our candidates about how Boys & Girls Clubs has changed their lives. These young people are the best and brightest of our organization, and in many cases have overcome homelessness, broken families, financial hardships and other obstacles that most people can’t even imagine. Their stories will make you smile, cry and most importantly, make you proud. You will leave the event a changed person after hearing the personal experiences of these young people who represent our Clubs in Apache Junction, Chandler, Gilbert, Guadalupe, Mesa, Tempe and the Gila River Indian communities.

Proceeds from this event support the programs and activities offered at the 11 Branches as well as provide scholarship and financial aid to qualifying members. Over 300 Club members have been awarded college and continued education scholarships.

If you think these young men and women can’t have an impact on kids throughout the country, consider this: Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley has produced two National Youths of the Year: Donald Smith in 2002 and Mona Dixon in 2010. Only one other club has produced more National honorees than our organization.

In the United States the statistic shows only 69% of our high school age youth are graduating. We are proud to say at Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley teens that are members have a 90% graduation rate!  We focus on making sure that every member that attends the Club gets the support and academic resources necessary to progress from one grade to the next at the appropriate age and that they are graduating on time. Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley believe that continued education is just as important. We provide scholarship money to help get the teens into the trade schools or colleges of their dreams. Our annual Youth of the Year program raises the funds necessary to let this happen.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley serves more than 36,000 youth annually and continues to grow to meet the needs of today’s youth. For more information about this event or the Youth of the Year program, please contact Tyler Vasquez, Special Events Manager, at 480-820-3688
